2013 Summer Reading Program

The Valley Falls Library is gearing up for the Summer Reading Program! Sign up between June 12th to June 26th at the library. Read and record your books in the record we give you, and return it between August 7th to August 21st. You will receive a paperback book, a certificate and a prize!

On the summer schedule will be a program called “Pete the Pirate’s– Diggin’ for Treasure”: This highly popular comedy/variety show features soft ventriloquist puppets, Sam the Parrot and Clarence the Clownfish. The show also includes spirited pirate songs, and hilarious comedy magic. With a magical treasure map, Pete digs for clues. “Aargh” you ready to discover what’s hidden in his treasure chest?

When:  July 22nd at 6:30PM

Also scheduled will be a program by the Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery from Skidmore College.  In keeping with the 2103 theme of Dig into Reading, the program will be based on the colorful and whimsical sculpture, Personnage, by Joan Miró, pictured above. There will be a discussion of this sculpture, and the children will make their own “personnage” incorporating various materials such as wire, wood and a small plastic shovel, as a tool to help Dig into Art.

Our annual Memorial Day Service being  held to honor and remember the men and women who have fought and died in defense of our nation is being moved from the Library lawn due to the inclement weather. Please join us on

Bring flags of any size for the blessing of the flags.Light refreshments will be served.

We need your help!! At our Annual Trash and Treasures Sale, we have a bake sale in the library. We are in desperate need of volunteers to bake… nothing big or fancy, just delicious! If you are interested, please reply, or contact us at the library. We will be forever grateful!

The village-wide garage and lawn sale is an annual fundraiser for the library, and you can help!  For a donation of $10.00, you will receive a place on the “Garage Sale Map” and all advertising. This can be your house, or you can “rent” space on the library lawn. Please stop in to the Library to get your registration form, or contact Sandi for more information.
